AML News April 2021

On 13 April 2021, the European Lawyers Foundation (ELF) and the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) held the first training activity (a train-the-trainers event) in the framework of this project. The activity was attended by more than 50 participants from more than 15 EU Member States, exceeding the initial of objective of training 20 trainers.

The event, which began with welcome speeches from Mr. James MacGuill (Vice President of the CCBE) and Ms. Raluca Pruna (Head of the Financial Crime Unit at the European Commission), focused on some of the documents which have been produced during the project, namely a model training programme and manuals for trainers and users. The purpose of these documents is to help training providers to organise training for lawyers on AML/CTF in the future on the basis of the material produced in this project, so that future training is consistent regardless in which Member State it is organised.

The next project activity will be the training of lawyers on AML/CTF to take place online on 17 May 2021
